The product, in the report: Neoka Collection 18-Light 16” White LED Desk Lamp with Telescopic Metal Arms LS-21170 G http://www.lampsplus.com/products/Lite-Source-White-Flat-Head-LEDDesk- Lamp__J9788.html the information from the bottom of the white lamp: E127284 Control No 100204-3 LS-21170 WHT Batch Code:14/10 L847 the gunmetal lamp: E127284 Control No 100302-9 Batch Code: 05/10 L847
The lamp was turned off but plugged in. I set a ball chain necklace on the base of the lamp that happened to connect to two metal telescoping parts of the lamp. It had evidently completed some sort of circuit because the metal super-heated and the plastic base started smoking (really noxious brown-black smoke) and started to catch fire. After I unplugged the lamp, removed the superheated metal, and patted out the base of the lamp I noticed the part of the ball chain necklace I had set on the lamp was still blazing hot and the base of the lamp had burned into my bedside table and the ball chain had burned an impression into the base of the lamp.
