The product, in the report: Lincoln Park Torchiere Lamp
This is to report a defective base for the Lincoln Park Torchiere Lamp - Model GL6543-WH-GLI
My lamp has been sitting in the corner of my office for years. Tonight, August 11, 2017, it fell over and the glass shade around the bulb shattered and threw glass into our family room, which was down a hallway and into the next room or approximately 25 feet. There were also shards and slivers of glass on many surfaces in the office and in the carpet.
On investigation, I found that the base of the lamp (under the metal outer covering) was concrete coated in plastic. This had completely disintegrated into chunks and smaller pieces that turned to dust when it was touched, offering no support for the height of the lamp. Had anyone been in the office or in the hallway, they could have been seriously injured and/or blinded by the flying glass, not to mention that one could have been hit by the falling lamp.
