  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jan 15, 2016, sent to the company Mar 9, 2016, published by CPSC Mar 23, 2016

The product, in the report: Burlap Arc Floor Lamp Height: 5ft 8 in Color: Oil Rubbed Bronze Finish (3-way Type A Incandescent blub up to 150W or 3-way CFL bulb - not included)

On 1/9/16, the consumer assembled the lamp together. She put in a new 3-way Type A bulb (40-60-100W) into the lamp.

The consumer plugged in the cord into an outlet. The plug popped (small explosion at the outlet and through the cord) and crackled. There were sparks.

The consumer believes that the lamp was off from the switch since the blub did not come on.

The consumer received electrical shock on her right arm that went up to her shoulder. The consumer dropped the cord immediately. There were black marks on the consumer’s thumb and two fingers. Her hand was not burnt. The consumer felt pain in her arm until 1/11/16.

The consumer stated that there were some hot spots on cord where the cord pieces separated. The ashes fell to the ground. The consumer extinguished the ashes to make sure that it did not start a fire.

The consumer stated that she has tried using a different product on the electrical outlet and it works properly.

The consumer plans on taking the product back to the retailer for a refund.
