The product, in the report: It was a black Withings Body scale. Dimensions: 12.8 x 12.8 x 0.9 in https://www.withings.com/us/en/body $59.95 Model WB506
A Whithings Body scale was shipped to me through Betr Health as part of a weight loss and type 2 diabetes program processed through my health insurance company. When the scale was received, I placed it next to my existing scale in my master bedroom. I had the Withings for less than a week. On the morning of 5/11/2021, I walked past the scales and in doing so stubbed my baby toe against the Withings Body scale. This action caused its corner to get pushed into my scale. The Withings Body scale glass shattered on impact sending glass chunks and shards everywhere on my bathroom floor. I got a little piece of glass in my foot, but was able to immediately remove it. I am still finding glass pieces and fear one will end up in mine or my husband’s feet in the future. I searched online and found others who had this issue where the impact was also extremely minor. My existing scale has a glass top and gets bumped around a lot with no issues. Also, it was not impacted by the Withings Body scale hitting it. By design, I feel a scale should be able to withstand various impacts, pressures and weights. However, the Withings Body scale couldn’t withstand a very minor impact. Broken glass in bathrooms is dangerous. I reported the issue to Betr Health and was told floor scales should be put up after every use to prevent damage. I feel that is a ridiculous suggestion. I contacted Withings and they simply said that the damage is not covered under warranty but they will offer a 25% discount. There was no consideration of the safety issue, no investigation or recall.
