The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Emergency room

Made Jan 27, 2015, sent to the company Feb 4, 2015, published by CPSC Feb 20, 2015

The product, in the report: Weight Scale. Made my Vivtar. Model: PS-V427-C MID#2520614. This is regular glass digital scale.

Item is a weight scale to measure a persons weight. The scale has two thing metal strips that are 1-2 inches wide that span on both sides of the scale to measure a persons weight. The left metal strips adhesive came off the glass scale about 4 inches off the scale is peeling back. I repeatedly have to push the strip back onto the scale. Today after measuring my weight, i stepped back onto the scale, the metal strip lodged underneath my left foot, and left a 2 inch wide gash about 2-3cm deep into my foot. i began to bleed profusely for 2 hours. and was rushed to the emergency room. This weight scale is a health hazard as it can easily cut a persons foot. There is no reason to have such a thin sharp metal piece that is attached with a cheap adhesive to be on here. my foot 12 hours later is still bleeding due to the depth of the laceration. I have been ordered to stay home for a week for recovery and required to get stitches today in the ER.
