The product, in the report: Protege Manual Travel Luggage Scale sold by Walmart (product number: 063312582864) Description at: [REDACTED]

I wish to notify CPSC of an injury that I suffered from one of its products. Walmart sells a “Luggage Scale” (product number: 063312582864) that suddently fractured when I used it. The device consists of a small scale that connects to a spring and luggage hook that are very poorly engineered. Today (2/19/22) the device fractured upon my first use of it. The plastic body of the scale broke away from the spring/hook assembly, ejecting the scale upward. It struck and injured my mouth. This incident could have been disastrous if the scale had struck my eye. Walmart’s packaging for the device states “Holds up to 80 pounds”. This is false, since at the time that the device fractured and I was hit by it, it was lifting a 54 pound suitcase. I ask CPSC to initiate in inquiry into this matter with Walmart and its importer/distributor. This product is a hazard to the public. The luggage scale is made in China, according to its packaging. I can supply photos if desired.
