Hurt, no treatment Made Feb 20, 2018, sent to the company Feb 28, 2018, published by CPSC Mar 21, 2018
The product, in the report: Black Futon bed. It is built like a seesaw when the bed is opened. bought at Deals And More Furniture 5711 N Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19141 Phone: (215) 224-3336
We bought a Fulton bed from an area furniture place. My brother went their first and picked out the futon for my elderly mother. The furniture place delivered the Futon. I came in from work, and walked around the furniture place. I asked the manager many important questions regarding the safety and sturdiness of the Futon. I told him that my mother is elderly, and a disabled sister with cerebral palsy lives there also. He stated that it is 100% sturdy and safe. We spent over an 1/2 hour with questions I was giving him, and lies he was returning back to me. I believed him. I paid for his workers to set it up. My mother wanted to try out the futon. I opened the Futon to a bed. My mother sat down on the Futon bed and the Futon flipped over almost on top of my mother. She fell hard to the ground, thank God I was there, and she only suffered small bruises. She’s 85 years old. The Futon is like a seesaw. I called the store and spoke to the same Manager. he stated to me that Futons, you have to lay in the middle of the Futon. You cannot lay at the end. I asked him, what if a person rolls over in their sleep. He stated again you have to lay in the middle. He also told me to call the warehouse for a refund. I called the warehouse. And a woman answered. I explained what happened. She told me the same. You must lay in the middle of the futon, all futons are like that, you cannot lay on either end. I told her, that I have bought futons in the past, and never had to worry about that, and none of the futons I bought in the past flipped over if a person is sitting on it when it is open as a bed. I have never heard of any bed that you must sleep in the middle. The store person lied to me and my family. He stated it is extremely safe and sturdy. The futon they sell are like seesaws. It is very dangerous, and someone will get killed from it. And we don’t know if anyone has.
