The product, in the report: Smart meter Landis+Gyr FOCUS AXRe-SD Form 25 2S CL200 240V 3W 60Hz Gridstream RF
Approximately 11:30 pm our electrical service to our home switched on and off approximately 10 times over the course of a few minutes. The power didn’t stay off for any significant duration and eventually stayed on the rest of the night. The next day I checked with neighbors and found out they didn’t experience any power outage so I investigated around the house. I discovered outside at our electric meter box that it was black all around the box and on the brick where the box was mounted. I notified Ameren Illinois who dispatched a utility worker. Once he arrived and opened the box he commented he had not seen one burned that bad and he immediately disconnected our underground utility service at the street and I had him call an electrical contractor to come out. One side of the electrical service was burned completely through the wire and the electrical box and meter had to be replaced. Both the electrician and Ameren employee were amazed that we still had electrical service coming in the home based on the extent of the damage. Because it was mounted on brick that helped prevent more serious fire damage. A relative alerted me to a report they heard about smart meter fires. The meter involved in this fire was Focus AXRe-SD Landis+Gyr Gridstream RF. The back of the meter was burned pretty badly, as well as the interior of the box.
