The product, in the report: 0245 ITE circuit breaker

I had a fire in my main service panel die to a faulty breaker. My A/C unit quit working. When I checked for power at the panel, there wasn’t any. I switched the breaker off then back on and fire shot out from the breaker melting the bus bar stab.

A couple of days later, the lights began to flicker in my master bath and bedroom. I checked the breaker and it was arcing too. It was adjacent to the breaker the caught on fire. Both are the original ITE/ Siemens breakers that were installed when the home was built in 1990.

I called Siemens to report the problem and sent them the breaker. I was told that the breaker was too badly damaged to investigate the cause.
