The product, in the report: The product is the Witura WT-1673 GSM Remote Control Switch. It is a single-outlet power strip controlled by an embedded cell phone. To turn the outlet on, call the device’s cell phone. To turn the outlet off, call the device’s cell phone again.
I obtained a Witura WT-1673 GSM Switch. The manufacturer sent the unit directly to me; I did not purchase it through a reseller. When the switch arrived, because of my previous experience with Witura products, the first thing I did was use a VOM to measure whether the wiring in the accessory outlet were correct. I found the accessory outlet wired incorrectly. The hot and neutral were reversed on the accessory outlet. There was no incident. See my writeup at http://home.roadrunner.com/~[REDACTED]/witura-error-1673.html for more information.
