The product, in the report: Round SkyBell video doorbell. Installed several years ago. Not sure which model it was. I think it was an older SkyBell HD.
My friend had a house fire on 6/9/2023. The fire clearly started at the front of the home near the front door. The Fire Inspector said the cause was improperly disposed smoking materials, but we suspect the SkyBell doorbell was the actual cause. The SkyBell stopped recording several hours before the fire. The SkyBell was completely unrecognizable after the fire. It was a hard lump of charcoal attached to the wiring. Other items that were near the SkyBell were not as badly burned. The Fire inspector did not remove the board over the door area to inspect the remains of the SkyBell. The product was being used as intended. It was hard wired into the low voltage doorbell wiring. The home is badly damaged from the fire and a cat died from smoke inhalation.
