Hurt, no treatment Made Dec 28, 2013, sent to the company Jan 7, 2014, published by CPSC Jan 23, 2014
The product, in the report: RCA 2 USB wall plate charger, White, same size as an outlet plate and about an inch thick not including the prongs to plug into the wall.
Purchased an RCA USB wall plate charger from Lowe’s Home Improvement. The unit is intended to plug over a duplex and provide a single 110V outlet and 2 USB plug positions to charge electronics. When first taken out of the package, the unit was plugged in and my son proceeded to plug it in. He then plugged a laptop charger into the 110V outlet. He then went to remove the laptop charger and was shocked as he came in direct contact with the plugs prongs. Upon examination, we determined that there is no physical way to fully insert the plug into the product. It aligns directly with the plug that goes into the standard duplex and they did not leave enough room. This allows any person to inadvertently contact the prongs when grasping the plug to remove it from the wall. It is a very bad design
