How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 1 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: iconcepts ipod wall charger

the iconcepts wall charger was plugged in late last night by my 12 year old daughter. She woke up this morning to unplug it and the charger end was melted to the metal on the charger. There was a hole melted right through the charger end. Did not seem to hurt the [REDACTED], but the charger is surely a fire hazard possible. I have the product and would love to ship this to someone to look at and see if a recall is needed.

I called the company and they were just said they were sorry and would ship a undefective replacement in the next 3-4 weeks and promised the new one would certainly not be defective. I asked if they wanted this one shipped back and they really weren’t concerned about it. Said I could if I paid to ship it to them, but not necessary.

I am very concerned for others safety that may also have this product. I have five kids in my home and if that would have caused a fire in my one daughters room and hurt any of my kids or family, they would have some serious issues to deal with. I hope this product comes off the shelf and doesn’t put any other person at risk. I did some research this morning and there are other reviews of the type of thing happening with this product, melting, smoking, not working right. It’s only a matter of time before it does cause a fire. Or simply ruins the maid product attached to it. Not my biggest concern as my child safety.

Let me know if you want the charger shipped to you or even photos of the charger emailed to you.

    Thanks,

    [REDACTED]
