The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: HP Pavilion DV4-1000 DV5-1000 DV7z 384019 Ac Power Adapter. It is a black cord with two parts. One that plugs into the wall and the other that plug into the computer, they connect with each other as well. I ordered this plug because my previous one broke a few months after buying it, however I hoped it was a fluke. This charger began to have problems a few months after my purchase.

The charger heats up when being used. I have lightly burnt myself on it a couple times if plugged in for more than 45 minutes. It also occasionally will not charge my computer when plugged in.

The product, in the report: Hewlett-Packard Recalls Notebook Computer AC Power Cord, color black

I purchased HP power cord and used it and about more than a year ago my laptop burned and set on fire and completely damaged. I received an email from amazon today about the recall of that power cord by HP since it caused burns and over heating. I tried to repair it but it costs me more than $300 so I purchased a new one but today I came to know the real reason of the burn which actually burned my hand as well since I was using the computer at that time.

Bought two of these adapters (at two different times) and both have incidents of over heating.

I have had trouble with this power cord overheating the entire time I have owned it. On 9/2/14, I was shocked when I plugged it into a power strip. From that point on, the power cord no longer charged the laptop, and is completely unusable. I didn’t seek any medical treatment, but there was mild pain and blistering following the incident.
