The product, in the report: From Home Depot website link: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Carlon-1-Gang-4-in-20-5-cu-in-PVC-New-Work-Octagon-Electrical-Ceiling-Box-with-L-Bracket-A615DEL/100565115 Description: 1-Gang 4 in. 20.5 cu. in. PVC New Work Octagon Electrical Ceiling Box with L-Bracket, made of a special high heat resistant engineered plastic material developed especially for fixture support up to 50 lbs.
Carlon brand blue plastic electrical outlet boxes crack and shatter to pieces with age and home environmental heat and cold temperatures. We have had three outlet boxes over the years crumble to pieces. The latest one was a 50-lb. rated ceiling electrical box in which a pendant light started coming loose and risked falling on our heads, endangering head trauma and bodily injury. The light was carefully removed and photos of the outlet box were taken. But this has not been my only bad experience with Carlon brand plastic electrical boxes sold at Home Depot.
