The product, in the report: ac electrical adapter for APPLE MACBOOK laptop computer. 60W MagSafe Power Adapter
APPLE COMPUTER ac power adapter for MACBOOK. Corner of power adapter came loose with electrical prong part still in the electrical outlet. I received an electrical shock. I am concerned for the safety of my child; and other children. I feel that the design of this adapter is poor and dangerous; especially to children.

The product, in the report: Apple oem 12 w USB charger. Flectronics lps 0012ADU00 Model A1401
Oem apple 12 w usb charger, bought new was being used normally. Charger overheated, burned my child and burned off the connecting lightening cable head. I assume it was the charger as it was too hot to handle for about 5 minutes. Had to use gloves to remove it from outlet. All new wiring in home, and no other issues. Charger has gotten hot in past, but was told it was normal.

The product, in the report: Apple Magsafe II 45 Watt power adapter. The MacBook Air involved is not at fault.
When using my Macbook Air with the Apple supplied AC adapter using the 2 pin plug I was contacting the Macbook Air and a grounded surface with my leg I started feeling a burning sensation on my leg which promptly stopped when I stopped making contact with my Macbook Air. As a person with understanding of electricity and electronics I realized that a small amount of current was flowing from the power supply to the metal case of my MacBook Air, through my body into the grounded surface. Also understanding the design of switching power supplies such as those made to appropriate standards I was able to rectify the problem by simply reversing the adapter in the AC outlet. After noting mentally the appropriate polarity the incident has not reoccurred.

No one hurt Made Sep 3, 2015, sent to the company Sep 14, 2015, published by CPSC Sep 28, 2015
The product, in the report: The item is an Ipad 3 charger that consists of a USB-type cable that connects to a wall charger at one end and the Ipad 3 charging port at the other end. The part that melted was the part on the USB cable that connects to the Ipad 3 charging port. In small print the cable says “Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China.” The Ipad 3 tablet belongs to my pregnant wife (I purchased it for her) who has not modified it in anyway (she wouldn’t know how to even if she wanted to) and uses it mainly for email, videos, etc.
My wife plugged the Ipad 3 wall charger into her Ipad 3 a couple of evenings ago as she has done before, and when she returned the connector that connects to the Ipad 3 port had begun to melt and was very hot. There was also a burning smell in the room. I still have the cable. The Ipad 3 doesn’t appear to have been damaged because we caught it in time. If this had been charging overnight, the damage would probably have been much worse. Nothing was done differently in charging the Ipad 3 this time versus other times. A different charger seems to be working fine so far for charging it, although much slower as it is a Iphone charger and apparently charges slower.

The product, in the report: This is the white cube power adapter with a USB slot for charging iPads, iPhones, etc
We were using a power adapter from Apple for iPhone, iPad, etc. When removing the adapter from the outlet one of the metal prongs came out of the adapter and remained in the outlet but was unnoticed. When plugging a different power cord into the outlet my mother-in-law’s hand touched the metal prong from the Apple adapter and she was electrocuted. This adapter had a green dot on it which I discovered (after doing some google research) was supposed to verify the adapter was safe and had been inspected by Apple engineers for this very concern after several customers complained of the same thing happening. However, even these “green dot” adapters are not safe.

The product, in the report: Product: Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (for MacBook Pro with Retina display) Included with 15” Macbook Pro with Retina Display (Late 2013). Website: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD506LL/A/apple-85w-magsafe-2-power-adapter-for-macbook-pro-with-retina-display
The cord on my Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter melted and separated from the strain relief on the base of the power adapter, and the exposed wire is partially frayed. After the separation, the adapter has become exceptionally hot while in operation, and the adapter is delivering power only intermittently to the laptop. The exposed wire is a safety hazard, as is the high temperature of the adapter.
This damage was sustained after normal, moderate use of the adapter. The melting and separating of the strain relief appears to be a design defect.

The product, in the report: 60W Magsafe Power Adapter
I was charging my Macbook Pro using the charger that came with it. The power brick on the charger has always got extremely hot, and can be unsafe to touch; however, I just noticed that the wire on the charger started melting close to the power brick on the charger. Frayed cables are sticking out, and I believe this is unsafe as it poses an electrical hazard.

The product, in the report: Apple 85W portable power adapter for macintosh laptop computer
My Apple 85 W mag adapter caught fire at the junction between the cable and the adapter while connected to a macbook pro computer. I was using the computer on my lap and smelled something burning. It took me a few seconds to notice it was coming from the mag adapter. My wife was sitting next to me and we saw small sparks, I tried to take a picture with my phone and then we saw flames, and finally the plastic sleeve caught fire. All happened within a few seconds and stopped after I unplugged the adapter and blew on the burning cable. If that computer had been left unattended my house could have burnt.

The product, in the report: MagSafe 2 adapter supplied with the MacBook Pro retina 15” bought 05/2013
The MagSafe 2 adapter that was supplied with a MacBook Pro retina sparked and burned. The brick turned extremely hot right before it sparked and burned a hole through the outside shielding material. This product was bought 05/2013 new in a box. To our knowledge there were no cracks found near the base prior to this and it has always been plugged into an appropriate grounded outlet. No damage was done to anything in the home.

The product, in the report: Lightning to USB cable UPDATED 1/15/14: The product is a Lightning to USB Cable (1 m). The model number per Best Buy is MD818ZM/A.
Apple lightning to USB cable was used to charge iPad mini. This was recently purchased (11/23/13) as replacement cable due to what I thought was a defect. On 12/23/13 I noticed a slight bulge on cable below the adaptor piece that connects to the iPad. Shortly thereafter the cable became hot and a hole developed. Luckily I have another cable to use. I will return this defective cable. This seems a possible fire hazard.

The product, in the report: Apple MacBook Pro laptop charger
I’m worried that my laptop charger could cause a fire or produce a harmful electric shock. My wife and I have MACs and the wires are completely frayed on the charger. The worst part is, together we’ve had to replace 4 chargers over the last 3 years (on just 2 computers) because of this problem. We’ve had a 100% fail rate.
I know I’m not the only one experiencing this problem. It’s well documented online and it’s time that this dangerous product is recalled!

The product, in the report: It is a charging cord with a USB port to allow it to charge off of a computer. There is an adapter on one end to allow it to plug into a regular AC outlet. This is for the iPad 3.
My wife’s iPad charger was plugged into an outlet today and the USB port end burned up. It was not plugged into the device. I noticed a strong smell of something electrical burning and a haze in the room. I unplugged everything including the charger and the smell went away. We later discovered the end which plugs into the iPad was burnt and part of the plastic had melted. We went to an Apple store and they claimed it looked like the USB end got wet, therefore, causing an issue when it was plugged in. The charger never got wet.
We researched the Internet and found we are not the only ones who had issues like this with the charger. In fact, one of my coworkers had a major house fire from an Apple product charger a few years ago causing his family to be displaced for months. I am a volunteer firefighter for over 2o years and felt the need to get this out there. I don’t understand why Apple hasn’t done anything to remedy this problem. The amount of people with similar issues is astounding.

The product, in the report: Apple MacBook Pro 85W Power Cord
i have an apple Mac Book Pro 15 inch laptop that came with the power cord (85W). I noticed my laptop was running low on power, so I plugged it in. After about 5 minutes I smelled something burning. I looked around and within about 3 minutes I noticed that the power cord was melted. The internal wire was not exposed and the outer sheath had melted off. The next day I went to work at ESU, east stroudsburg university, where I am a [REDACTED] & a faculty member brought in her power cord (the exact same one as mine) and gave it to one of my co-workers who is the technical specialist. It was burned and melted in the exact same place as mine. It looked almost identical. I took photos of both cords. I called apple to get a replacement and they told me I had to turn in the faulty one to get a new one. I believe there is a serious problem. If I had been sleeping (it was 10pm) at night, both my 5 year old son and I might have perished in a fire.

The product, in the report: Apple 85W MagSafe power adapter
We have now gone through 8 Apple 85W Magsafe chargers. Each one has heated up to burning temperatures and the pins that attach to our Macbook burn and melt. The original charger that came without Macbook Pro plus 3 we bought out of our own expense were all replaced by Apple. These are now the replacements that have fried up.

The product, in the report: Apple 60 watt mag-safe power adapter
We have two Apple notebook computers with 60 watt mag safe power adapters. We have replaced four adapters. Two shorted out and two broke at the tip. The poor electrical connections could be a safety hazard. Amazon.com is rife with complaints. There was no injury and no fire.
