I was using a 12v dc inverter to charge a computer battery and two double A batteries. The male plug melted internally wihtout tripping the fuse. A few minutes more and I believe the plastic would have caught fire as there was not only a strong odor of burning plastic in the vehicle, but also a slight haze of smoke.
