The product, in the report: Safety 1st Double-Tough Plug & Outlet Cover. Covers the electrical outlet and the plugs in them so they can not be pulled out.

I installed several of the Double-Touch Plug & Outlet covers in my home. I noticed the product left open areas on all four sides of the outlets. I caught my granddaughter sticking her fingers inside the opening, and got a picture of it. This product needs to be re-engineered so that it completely covers the outlet before some child gets electrocuted.

The product, in the report: Safety first. They are the inserts for wall outlets used to shield the plugins from babies. They are all about the same size and shape so all brands are hazardous. Covers should be used instead.

The child safety plugs that insert into wall outlets create an extreme chocking hazard. Pretty much any brand as they are all the same size. My son chocked on one. I had to reach down this throat to get it out so he could breathe. These need to be recalled. If I left the room more than thirty seconds who knows what would have happened.

The product, in the report: http://www.toysrus.com/buy/toddlers-kids/child-proofing-safety/outlet-covers-plugs/safety-1st-press-n-pull-plug-protector-48452-3502244

we bought sAFETY FIRST press n’ pull plug protectors to protect our daughter from touching teh plugs. The protectors do not stay tight on the plugs, they are extremely easy to remove, and are thus extremely dangerous! Our 12 month old child leaned how to pull them out within a minute of installation. Fortunately, she hasn’t been hurt, but the plug created a big game for her: running to an outlet and pulling the plugs out, so that she can watch us run to her screaming NOOOOO, don’t touch please!

we don’t seem to be the only ones having this issue. if you go to ToysRus website, the product gets 1 start out of 5 from 99 customers. All reporting the same: the product is USELESS as protection against electric shortage.

but what is even more outrageous, is that, it seems that Safety First has a monopoly on the plugs, at least in DE/PA, there are no other products around. This is simply outrageous!

The product, in the report: Secure Press Plug Protectors - 24 Pack HS143

We purchased “Safety 1st” Plug n’ Pull protectors for all of the electrical outlets in our home when our 1st daughter was born. She was able to pull the protectors right out of the outlet by 9 months old. We ended up having to replace all of them with old fashion plug prtectors. We spent approximately $24 on the Safety 1st product. This product is of very poor design. they are so thick and leave a gap slight enough for tiny fingers to pry them off within seconds. I did not realize we could report this product failure to an actual goverment site or I would have done it sooner. I recommend you do a search on this product’s customer reviews via [REDACTED]. You will see a multitude of individuals complaining about the same problem. It is sold at nearly all common baby and childrens stores and shoul dbe taken off the shelf. It further presents a choking hazard, not to mention the potential for a child to be electrically shocked. A 120 volt shock is enough to stop a small child’s heart and cause irrepairable brain/organ damage. I am surprised this has not happened yet. Please take serious measures to investigate and assess a recall or injunction against Safety 1st corporation. Thank you.

The product, in the report: Safety 1st “Press ‘n Pull Plug Protectors” Outlet Plugs

I placed the product in my outlets to prevent my 8-month old baby from sticking his fingers in. It took him a very short time to figure out how to remove the product from the outlets, which obviously defeats the safety purpose. Searching product reviews on the internet, it appears that many other people have experienced the same thing.

The product, in the report: The Safety 1st Press n’ Plug Protectors are easy for adults to remove and clips to cords for safekeeping. The plug protector covers one electrical socket to deter children from putting sharp objects or fingers in unused electrical outlets. The protector clips to electrical cord when outlet is in use so you never lose the outlet plug again. a two size cut out accommodates various appliance cords. This was designed to keep women from chipping their nails removing the device.

One year ago, I was at a birthday party with my one year old, when I heard a commotion on one side of the house. I went over to see everyone staring at my boy pulling an alleged ‘child safety’ product out of an electrical socket. This product is the press and pull electrical plug protector made by the company Safety 1st. Here is a link to it on Amazon.com:

    http://www.amazon.com/Safety-1st-Press-Pull-Protectors/dp/B0017ZCM3A

So I contacted the company, and sent them this video of the event:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOSSsI3-zUU

So they sent me a bunch of other safety products which do work, and promised that they would launch a full investigation. I sent a few emails to follow up on this, and left a few phone messages, with no reply. One year later, I checked on the product on youtube and found these videos:

This product could potentially endanger a child by giving a parent a false sense of security in the home with something as dangerous as an exposed electrical socket. Most of these children are in the same age range (1+) with no idea what they are doing could be dangerous.
