The product, in the report: Monster Power AC outlet, model PowerCenter AV-700
Hello. I recently had an incident with a Monster Power AC outlet, model AV-700, where the on-off switch heated up and the unit became inoperable. At the time, I smelled a burning odor and the unit felt very hot. I threw that unit away and replaced it with another Monster Power AV-700. Just today (after using the newer unit for a couple months) I again smelled a burning odor, but this time the unit had melted and caused a small fire (the carpet underneath had begun to smolder, leaving burn marks). Fortunately I was in the room and avoided a serious house fire. I have saved this defective unit and have taken photographs (attached to this report).
Sincerely,
[REDACTED]
