The product, in the report: The product is a standard home 3-prong, 2 plug electrical outlet. These were installed by the builder approximately 20 years ago. Colors are ivory plastic on the outside and blue plastic on the inside. The visible ivory exterior is the (plastic) insulator that exhibits the cracking.
An electrical outlet was not functioning. My sister called an electrician who checked the circuit and determined that the outlet had cracked and needed to be replaced. Several days later a different outlet in the same house produced a burning odor. This outlet was badly damaged due to melting and suspected arcing. This damaged outlet also exhibited cracking.
