The product, in the report: Belkin Conserve Socket. This product has a built in timer that will only use power for the following desired times: 30 minutes, 1.5 hours or 3 hours. Once that timer shuts off, there is no power going to whatever is plugged in.
Fire Hazard! Belkin Conserve Socket was plugged into a surge protector. My cell phone charger was plugged into that. Shortly after I noticed an odd smell but didn’t think more of it. An hour later I noticed that the normally green led was now orange. I went to unplug the cell phone charger from the Belkin Conserve Socket and it was way to hot to remove. I had to unplug the Belkin Conserve Socket from the surge protector instead since it was easier to pull out that way. The unit smelled really bad and the power button seems to be stuck on. I sleep about 24 inches away from this unit and I’m terrified what would have happened if I didn’t unplug it. My whole family could have been tragically wiped out.
