The product, in the report: [Identified from Identical Listing] SonDiko Butane Torch, Color: Bronze Material: Alloy Steel Weight: 430 grams 3.9”L x 6.3”W x 6.2”H, made of one piece molding. Premium Metal Big Torch.
A butane torch purchased from Temu catastrophically malfunctioned during normal use. When I pressed the ignition button, the torch did not produce a controlled flame from the nozzle. Instead, it began venting butane gas from multiple areas simultaneously, which immediately ignited into a ball of fire with flames shooting in all directions. The torch had not been dropped, altered, modified, or misused and had been functioning normally prior to this incident. Because the device was actively emitting burning gas, I could not safely release it indoors. I ran to the bathroom and placed it in the toilet to contain the fire. Despite flushing multiple times, the flames continued. Fearing a potential explosion, I closed the toilet lid and retrieved a fire extinguisher. After discharging the fire extinguisher, the flames were extinguished; however, audible butane gas venting continued afterward, indicating an internal failure. As a result of this malfunction, I sustained four burn blisters on my hand, singed hair on my knuckles, and burns with singed hair along the back of my arm nearly to my elbow. I am still experiencing pain. The incident also caused property damage, including partial melting and permanent damage to a bidet toilet seat valued at approximately $350. I retained the defective torch as evidence. This product presents a serious fire and burn hazard and should be investigated to prevent injury to other consumers.
