  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made May 2, 2012, sent to the company May 10, 2012, published by CPSC May 24, 2012

The product, in the report: MagTorch Garden Torch. Used for killing weeds, starting fires, or melting ice.

MagTorch. The ‘auto igniter’ which is located about 5-6 inches from the flame on this torch gets very hot even after a short time of use. The auto igniter is made of plastic and began melting from the heat of the torch. When I turned the torch off then tried to relight it I burned my finger touching the hot plastic igniter. The plastic igniter melted enough that it could not be pressed again to relight the torch. This is my second torch made by the same company. I took it back to the store (Menards) for a replacement since the igniter was melted. This time I used leather gloves to press the igniter so as not to burn my finger, but it still melted after 15 minutes of use due to the heat and once again it is inoperable.
