The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: La Salle Metal-Wrapped Coffee Table

La Salle Metal-Wrapped Coffee Table The metail is cracking and peeling causing injury to people that graze their skin on it. The table is on recall for lead based issues but only in the zinc finish I’m told. However, I’m having this other issue and H is not offering a resolution.

The product, in the report: ANNECY METAL-WRAPPED COFFEE TABLE 55”W x 32”D x 16½”H Dark Zinc

I learned about the Restoration Hardware Annecy Coffee Table recall which is published on your site as well as RH’s website. When I called RH recall hot line, they would not honor the recall as published as I do not have an original receipt. Now I have a coffee table that contains lead in my home that they will not remove unless I agree to take $597.13 gift card for the recalled table. The table was purchased as new and cost roughly $2,000. Nowhere does it state that you have to have the original receipt in order for them to honor the recall as published which is “a full refund or a new piece.”

I called the RH corporate office to escalate my situation, but they stated they can only offer me $900.00 gift card which is still not a “full refund.”

The product, in the report: Restoration Hardware Reclaimed Brazilian Wood Rectangular Dining Table (comes with glass top).

On November 15, 2017, at aproximately 2:45 pm the glass top on our Restoration Hardware Reclaimed Brazilian Wood Rectangular Dining Table randomly exploded. The table was inside our home and it was aproximately 69 decrees at that time. I was about 15 feet away from it and heard a crashing explosive-like sound. I initially reacted to the sound by turning away and ducking. Following that I looked that way, not knowing what happened and glass was everywhere! Some pieces went past me and some farther away than me. Nothing else in the house was effected other than items on the table and under the table that glass and tabletop items fell on. Everything else on the walls or other pieces of furniture were completely in place. The glass table top just exploded!

The product, in the report: La Salle Metal-Wrapped Coffee Table size: 60x33x14.5 color: zinc

The table was advertised by Restoration Hardware and subsequently purchased and used by us as a coffee table. As such, it was used to hold drinks, etc. What prompted this report was that my infant daughter was tested for lead exposure when she turned 1 as is required in my State. Her levels were elevated beyond the normal range to the near dangerous level and we were alerted by the State. In the following month, we began searching around the house for possible lead contamination. We could not find any potential lead sources until last week when we attempted to clean a white film off our coffee table (seemingly everywhere our daughter touches when she walks around the table). The film wouldn’t clean off, so we searched online for how to clean it and immediately discovered that several other nearly identical tables sold by the same company were recently recalled for causing lead contamination in children when the finish would come off and leave a white residue. This sounded identical to our problem, so we obtained an at home lead test from Lowe’s and it indicated a positive result. Today we had a professional environmental company come to our house and test the table. They also found that the table does contain lead. No other lead sources were found in our living area.

The product, in the report: Vintage schoolhouse play table for children’s playroom

My toddler was climbing on a chair next to the play table and he put his hand on the table to support his weight. His hand slipped and his head hit the table (not from a very long distance) and caused a big and deep lasceration on his forehead. Not only was his forehead cut but there is also a visible indentation. He had to go to the ER and his skin was glued.

I don’t understand how restoration hardware is allowed to advertise this as a children’s table when it is obviously dangerous. I called them and a girl named [REDACTED] said it was my fault and there was nothing they could do. I asked for a supervisor and he was nicer about it and assured me that he was going to report the incident to the right person in RH.
