The product, in the report: Steel and glass square off in an architectural design with a zen feel. Sleek coffee table makes the case for less is more with a single plane of ½” tempered glass laid over a minimalist frame of 1½” steel tubing finished in a matte black powdercoat. A great value for a lot of look. Welded steel tube Soft black powdercoat finish ½” tempered glass top with dubbed corners Foot caps and assembly hardware included Made in China

My girlfriend and I live together and both went to our respective homes for the Thanksgiving holiday. I came home to find our Crate and Barrel Mix Coffee Table completely shattered. The alarm was still set so I knew that no one had entered the apartment and caused the damage. It seemed as though the table had exploded as I was finding glass shards as far as 30 ft away in all directions from the table. There was a dusting of fine glass pieces everywhere in the apartment, including our counter tops, couches, rugs, and pillows. We felt extremely lucky that we were not home when this occurred, as we could have been seriously injured. However, we were baffled by why and how this could have happened, until we saw other examples of this listed here:
