The product, in the report: Garden Oasis Long Beach 7 Piece Patio Dinning Set (Glass-top Table and 6 Chairs)
The consumer stated that the glass-top table exploded spontaneously.
The consumer went to her deck and noticed glass on the deck. The table was covered with a cover. The consumer took the cover off and noticed the broken glass all over the table. The glass had exploded as far as 20 feet.
The consumer stated that the table is a safety hazard and that it is really hard to clean up the broken glass pieces. The consumer had a piece of glass get into her left hand while she was cleaning up with her gloves on. The consumer was able to remove the glass.
On 04/13/16, the consumer contacted the Martha Stewart Customer Service number that she found online. The consumer reached their magazine subscription and wedding line. They provided another number to contact (1-800-235-5700). The consumer called that number was informed that they only handle big projects. She believes that she is getting a runaround from the firm.
The consumer stated that a similar incident occurred with the same table set that her daughter owned.
The consumer noted the manufacture of the table must be aware of the 100s of complaints online about this exact product, and they [mfr] need to stop making it. The consumer also noted he has the table (without glass top) and the 6 chairs.

First aid Made Aug 13, 2015, sent to the company Aug 21, 2015, published by CPSC Sep 4, 2015
The product, in the report: Martha Stewart Living Model # DY4067-4062 Internet # 204395875 Grand Bank Rectangular Patio Dining Table Bronze Steel framed Glass Patio Table 37.75 in. x 59.75 in. x 27.75 in.
Last week my children went outside to play in my backyard. They immediately came back inside. My 4 year old was bleeding and had a small cut on her foot. My 6 year said that the patio table was broken into thousands of little pieces. I went outside to investigate and found that it was exactly how she had described it. The glass from my patio table had shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces. I was so confused as to how this had happened. I googled “shattered patio table and found many links telling stories very similar to mine; glass patio tables shattering randomly, in as little as 2 weeks after purchase up to 3 years after purchase. Many times the consumers were not a witness and found the resulting mess. Other times consumers reported the table “exploding into hundreds of pieces.” I was shocked that this is a problem that I am not alone in facing. I also found from my research that the Martha Stewart table sold at [REDACTED] is often the product affected. My table is a Martha Stewart table, but was purchased at Home Depot. I contacted home depot through phone and email and was twice told that they were sorry for the incident, but that because my table had been purchased in March 2013 (2 years ago) that it is not covered under their return policy and the warranty has expired. I am even more shocked to learn that this product is still being sold at Home Depot. I was lucky that my family was not outside when my table exploded and we only suffered minor injuries, but I am hoping to prevent a far worse incident from happening to someone else.

The product, in the report: Martha Stewart glass top patio table - hexagon shaped.
During our dinner - we heard a loud explosion. We looked out our back door to our attached deck and saw the glass portion of our patio table had broken into a million shards. There was a plant sitting on top of it and the plant dropped directly below on to the deck. The frame remained upright. There was no wind or rain at the time. It was a warm day - low 80’s.

The product, in the report: Glass Martha Stuart rectangle patio table that seats 6. I think it’s from the Living collection.
My outdoor glass Martha Stuart patio table just exploded out of the blue. The table is about 7 or 8 years old I think from the Living collection. Nothing more to say really except when reading about exploding patio tables on the net seems to be common and has to do with manufacturing.

The product, in the report: Martha Stewart Victoria Collection Patio Set-glass top table with glass Lazy Susan & 5 cushioned chairs
Yesterday, for absolutely no reason, the Lazy Susan glass on my Martha Stewart patio table imploded into a zillion pieces! It is on a covered screened porch...been treated very carefully. Thank goodness, no one was at the table at the time or they certainly could have been cut. The pictures tell the whole story. Calling the manufacturer resulted in an unavailable number...from research, I believe they are bankrupt. Martha Stewart will not do a thing about this problem, which apparently is frequent, so there will be no more of her products in my home or in my friends’ homes!

The product, in the report: It’s a 7 piece patio set with 4 regular chairs and 2 swivel chairs, a table with glass top and an umbrella.
My wife and I bought the Martha Stewart Augusta patio set from Home Depot about a year ago. 2 weekends ago, we came home and found that the glass table top was completely shattered all over our deck. We went to Home Depot to see if they could help and they told us to contact the manufacturer. Unfortunately, we don’t have the sales receipt, but the set is in excellent condition and now we can’t even use it. I took a photo of the broken mess the day it happened if that’s needed.

I purchased a Martha Stewart 7 pc patio set on June 5, 2011 from Home Depot. Today, the table top shattered for NO reason. Nothing hit it, nothing was sitting on it. I called Home Depot & they told me to contact the mfgr. Upon researching online, I found many others had this same problem!!!!
Home Depot should stand behind the brands they choose to sell. Its THEIR battle with the manufacturer!

The product, in the report: 7 piece outside glass top pation set with an umbrella.
Martha Stewart 7 pc patio set - I came home after being gone for a week and found my glass top patio table shatteren into a million pieces. So I started looking for a baseball, golf ball, review the past weeks weather and realized that someone would have had to do that. Once looking online to try to find a way to replace the glass, I began seeing all of the other complaints reporting the same incident. Luckily no one was around to get injured but now I have a nice patio set without a table top. Reading complaints of others it seems like either KMart (which is where I purchased it) or the Martha Stewart company appears to not be doing anything about compensating or at least replacing the tables. I too take very good care of my furniture and put it away for the winter, which can be seen by the condition of the chairs but now without a table its worthless. Please stop this poor standard of manufacturing so other consumers don’t waste their money and more important become injured by yet another exploding table.

The product, in the report: 7 piece outdoor patio set aluminum w/glass top rectangular table
While sitting in our living room we heard a loud crashing and went outside to see our Martha Stewart Augusta dining table shattered into a million piece. Patio was covered with glass. No reason it should have shattered. No wind, nothing fell on it, just seemed to implode. Went online to find a replacement top and saw that there are thousands of reports of this same nature. Should be some sort of recall since this set was costly and only lasted for about 14 months. Very disappointed.

The product, in the report: 11 piece set 1 table with turn table, 6 table chairs, 2 rocker chairs, 1 couch for 3 person, 1 coffee table. Gray with black speckled look. Cushions are a gray fabric. Please see attached photo.
We bought a Martha Stewart Living patio furniture set from Kmart. The other day the glass in the table shattered for no reason. It has always been under shade. I have been researching this issue and have learned that this has happened to thousands of consumers. Why has no recall been issued? I have seen pictures of injuries from the flying glass. My table was very gently used. There was never anything dropped on it. From everything I have read, all of these people this has happened to are getting the runaround from the manufacturer, JRA who accordingly filed chapter 7 due to this matter, from Kmart, who tends to profess no knowledge or when they do, directs consumers to JRA (bankrupt!) or Martha Stewart Enterprises, which directs callers back to Kmart. A class action lawsuit was dismissed for a very trivial reason. Please help solve this problem. Thank Goodness we were not sitting at it like so many others to whom this has happened. I believe this is more of a public safety issue, because the table glass tops explode without warning sending glass everywhere. How the Gov. can keep avoiding this issue I don’t know, someone my be injured seriously by this. I called Sears at 800-549-4505 and what they did is recommended me to a glass company where I could purchase costume replacement glass for my tables which is more $ than my complete set cost. Thank you

The product, in the report: Martha Stewart Lazy Boy Glass and Metal patio table 54” top
We purchased an expensive Martha Stewart Lazy Susan Glass Patio table and the glass shattered into a billion pieces while sitting on our deck. Nothing hit the top. The lazy susan piece was intact. I have tried to find a replacement glass through them but am now seeing that this is happening to others.

I own a Martha Stewart glass table that is approximately 6 years old. While I was in the house I heard a loud noise and when I looked on my deck I saw that the glass table top had shattered. I checked to see if the top had been struck by anything and there were no indications of any object striking the top.

The product, in the report: Outdoor Glass Table with Umbrella
The consumer says his wife was reading by the table when the glass exploded. The consumer says the glass got on his wife but she was not injured. The consumer says he went online and saw several complaints about the same thing happening with this product. The consumer called the retailer who told him to call the manufacturer.
Consumer states that just the lazy susan exploded, but they have stopped using the table. They fear that it will eventually explode.

The product, in the report: MARTH STEWART VICTORIA PATIO SET GLASS TABLE ETCHED UNDERSIDE ROUND SOLD THROUGH K-MART.
Martha Stewart Victoria glass table spontaneously shattered when no one was around. This is obviously a safety hazard. The pieces were far away from the table. If someone were sitting at it, they would have been cut. I called K-Mart from whom I bought the table, and they, unconcerned, said that they did not carry Martha Stewart anymore. Is that the level of care and responsibility we can expect?

The product, in the report: Glass Patio table Martha Stewart for Kmart
We bought a Martha Stewart Living patio furniture set from Kmart approximately 4 years ago. The other day the glass in the table shattered for no reason. It has always been under shade. We live in Southern California, so it never gets very cold. This patio set was over 500 dollars, and I wanted it to last. That was why I bought one that I thought was very nice. Thank Goodness we were not sitting at it like so many others to whom this has happened. I have a 2 year old, and I shudder to think of what could have been. Thank you

The product, in the report: patio table
My husband and I purchases a Martha Stewart Living Cascade Valley Dining Set of 7 Pieces at home depot in Everett, Ma. It was purchased on May28, 2011. On August 15th about 3 in the afternoon my son and I heard a loud bang in the yard area. We ran out to the deck and found that the glass insert on the table exploded. Glass was everywhere, I am lucky it was raining and no one was on the deck or it would have been catastrophic. Because the glass table exploded I could have glass in my pool. I did some research and the manufacturer JRA Furniture, headquartered in Cerritos, Calif. declared bankruptcy in 2007 due to pending lawsuits. Why is this unsafe product still sold in 2011 if the company went out of business in 2007. There are pages of complaints the same or worse than mine available by goggling Martha Stewart patio table shattering. What happened to Consumer protection? This is a safety issue and nothing is done to stop these stores from stocking these tables. The implied warranty of merchantability is a merchant’s basic promise that the goods sold will do what they are supposed to do and that there is nothing significantly wrong with them. In other words, it is an implied promise that the goods are fit to be sold.I will be expecting a complete refund from Home Depot.

My Martha Stewart patio table top spontaneously shattered. One day I simply walked outside and it was in thousands of pieces. I had not idea what had happened until today I heard that this has happened to others as well and that it appears to be a manufacturing defect. These tables should be recalled and customers’ money refunded.

The product, in the report: Table
I purchased at end of season a Martha Stewart table & 5 chairs at Bluefield K-Mart 2004. (Mftrd in 2003) The table has lazy susan that shattered on our enclosed screened patio room on Friday, May 27th. We were shocked the glass went everywhere; we had everyone at home earlier in the day including our grandchildren; thankfully it did not happen while they were in the room. It took us over 2 1/2 hours to clean up the pieces of glass. We attempted to call Martha Stewart # but could not be dialed from my phone.
I also called Kmart [REDACTED] in Bluefield, WV about this. Talked to [REDACTED] (manager on duty) and she said they no longer carry Martha Stewart products and she advised me to call consumer protection agency and I called you. I couldn’t find my receipt. I am sending you all the information I have on the Martha Stewart product I bought at Kmart. I also have copies.
