  1. No one hurt

Made May 23, 2026, sent to the company May 28, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 11, 2026

The product, in the report: Nola Brown 48” Wide Rectangle Glass Top & Wood Base Coffee Table | Mindi

On May 22, 2026, a tempered glass coffee table purchased from Living Spaces (Order [REDACTED]) spontaneously exploded in my living room. At the time of the incident, the table was completely stationary. There was no weight being placed on it, no impact, no sudden temperature changes, and no external force applied. It shattered completely unprovoked with incredible force. The glass burst into thousands of fragments, scattering across the living room floor, embedding deeply into an adjacent area rug, and spreading several feet away onto the surrounding hardwood. While tempered glass is designed to break into smaller, less jagged pieces, the velocity and violence of the spontaneous shattering create a severe safety hazard. Had anyoneincluding pets or individuals sitting on the nearby sofabeen in the immediate vicinity when the explosion occurred, the risk of serious eye injury or laceration from flying debris would have been extremely high. Furthermore, the explosion caused significant property damage, completely ruining the living room rug due to the thousands of microscopic shards embedded in the fibers. This type of catastrophic, spontaneous failure points to a severe manufacturing defectsuch as nickel sulfide inclusions or improper cooling during the tempering processrather than standard wear and tear. I am filing this report to ensure this product failure is officially documented for public safety monitoring, as a pattern of these spontaneous explosions poses a distinct risk to consumers.

The product, in the report: white nightstand

We bought a white night stand from Living Space Fremont. It still has very strong chemical smell after 6 months. It is unusually pungent. After one night sleep with the nightstand, everyone feel dizzy in the morning. we suggest the nightstand can get a examine done.
