  1. No incident, no one hurt

The product, in the report: The product is the Lifestorey Ana Mid Century Modern Nightstand in Oak, purchased from Target.com. The Target item number is 76929197, and the product link is: https://www.target.com/p/ana-nightstand-oak-lifestorey/-/A-76929197. It is a mid-century-style nightstand featuring three drawers, made of Crafted of MDF with Rubberwood veneer with solid Rubberwood legs Oak finish. The color is a light natural oak. The product is marketed for use in bedrooms and is designed to function as a bedside table. I purchased two units of this nightstand, and both emit a strong chemical odor. Dimensions as listed on the product page: Overall width: approx. 23.6 inches Height: approx. 24.2 inches Depth: approx. 15.7 inches The furniture appears well-constructed but is emitting unsafe levels of formaldehyde, as confirmed by home testing. The product is used in a bedroom environment, in close proximity to where I sleep.

On December 26, 2024, I purchased two nightstands through Target.com. After setting them up in my bedroom, I noticed a persistent and unusual chemical odor coming from the furniture. The smell did not dissipate over time, which raised concerns for me, especially because I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and have been exposed to this environment throughout the course of my pregnancy.

To verify the source of the smell, I used an at-home formaldehyde test kit purchased from [REDACTED]. The test, which I conducted on July 6, 2025, indicated a formaldehyde concentration of 0.7 mg/m, a level significantly above the safety thresholds set by regulatory agencies. I am deeply alarmed by this finding, as exposure to elevated levels of formaldehyde can pose serious health risks, particularly to pregnant women and developing fetuses.

The nightstands are located next to my bed and have been used daily as part of my regular living environment. Although I have not yet experienced specific physical symptoms directly attributed to the exposure, I am very concerned about the long-term impact on my health and especially the potential risks to my unborn child. This situation has caused emotional distress and anxiety due to the involuntary exposure to a potentially harmful chemical during a vulnerable time.

Given that formaldehyde emissions at this level may be illegal and hazardous, I believe this product violates indoor air safety standards and should be investigated. I am submitting this report in the interest of public safety and consumer protection.
