    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I am writing this letter to complain about an outdoor glass patio table that I purchased in April 2016. This table had a steel bar in the middle supporting it with a hole in the middle for placement of an umbrella. About ten days after purchasing the table, we were sitting under it when the table suddenly collapsed. Glass shattered in a million pieces! Myself, a 15-month old baby sitting in a booster seat and his mother were seated at the table. The umbrella was open and held at the bottom in a weighted umbrella holder. There was no wind-it was a very still day. The umbrella turned slightly and suddenly the table shattered. I have enclosed pictures.

I was the only one injured and I have enclosed pictures. The lacerations have healed but I was left with an injury to the nerve in my underside left forearm. I can’t rest my arm on the table while eating as the nerve sends shock waves up my forearm. This all happened in April 2016 and has gotten somewhat better and this is now July. I am hoping that in a full six months the nerve will have healed completely.

My reason for writing this letter is to get this table pulled off the market. I called Lowe’s where I purchased the table and explained what happened. The manager,[REDACTED] ? told me that the same thing had happened in the store with this table. They set it up on the floor as a model and it was up three days when it suddenly collapsed for no reason! There is no “wind” in the store so it can’t be blamed on the wind moving the umbrella. I believe the bar across the table prevents the glass from shifting position when the umbrella moves in the hole causing extreme pressure on the glass and it shatters.

It doesn’t really matter what causes this glass to shatter; it must be removed from sale before someone else is seriously injured! I am not asking for any compensation-just get this table off the market!

Sincerely, [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED]
