The product, in the report: IKEA GLIVARP Extendable table, transparent/chrome-plated125/188x85 cm.
For no reason at all, one of the large glass pieces in this IKEA Glivarp glass dining table shattered and dropped to the floor. There were approximately 20 pounds of sharp tempered glass pieces that fell. Fortunately there were no injuries since nobody was sitting at the table. If someone had been sitting there wearing short pants, their thighs and lower legs would have been seriously lacerated.
Another white-painted model of this table was under recall previously. Unfortunately, the voluntary recall does not include the chrome version — which is the exact same construction — just a different finish. Please consider marking this item unsafe and asking the manufacturer to recall the item before injuries do occur.

I purchased anextendable table from ikea in clear glass ,chrome legs.we left the original plastic packing on the glass. Just one month ago the center glass burst and cracked. If we had not left the plastic on the center piece it would have dropped to the floor. There has already been a recall on this same table from ikea except in white glass. We have contacted ikea 0n this problem and was offered a store credit which we have refused. I feel ikea knows the problem with these tables and should refund the monies paid and also issue a recall to the public The model that there is already a recalll is [REDACTED] table white -[REDACTED] issued nov 2018
