The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Apr 4, 2026, sent to the company Apr 8, 2026, published by CPSC Apr 22, 2026

The product, in the report: A portable stand that supposedly supports a 200lb weight capacity but a 50lb keyboard causes it to crash due a faulty locking mechanism.

I purchased a Gator Frameworks Deluxe X-Style Keyboard Stand as part of a bundle from Sweetwater Sound and placed a 50 lb keyboard on it with my daughters help, within seconds, the stands locking mechanism slipped without being touched, causing it to collapse violently, strike my knee, and crush multiple toes on both feet, while my daughter sustained minor injuries. Afterward, I found numerous 1-star reviews describing the same failure, indicating a widespread defect. Although Sweetwater stated they would contact Gator Frameworks and consider pulling the product, it remains for saleincluding discounted open-box unitssuggesting awareness of a serious safety issue without adequate action, and the manufacturer has not responded to my report.

UPDATED ON 4/16/2026: [This product has now been associated with over a dozen documented incidents in which the stand collapses under approximately 25% of its advertised and documented weight capacity. Despite being marketed as capable of safely supporting significantly heavier loads, real-world use demonstrates a clear and dangerous failure in design or manufacturing. I personally experienced a failure of this stand, which collapsed unexpectedly, resulting in physical injury, including a bruised knee and crushed toes. This incident could have been significantly worse and presents a clear risk of severe injury or even fatality under slightly different circumstances. This issue has already been reported to both Sweetwater and Gator. Both companies acknowledged the report and stated they were “looking into it.” However, despite these claims, the same defective product continues to be restocked and sold without warning to consumers. A formal complaint was also submitted to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The only action taken appears to have been a notification letter sent to the manufacturer. There has been no visible enforcement action, recall, or consumer warning issued. Meanwhile, thousands of these units remain in warehouses and are actively being sold through major retailers. This situation represents a clear and ongoing risk to public safety. A product that collapses under a fraction of its rated load is inherently dangerous and unfit for consumer use.]
