We purchased a Garden Oasis/Sun Joy patio set late June 2016. In the summer of 2017 there were some light wind and the whole patio set fell over (twice). The glass came out of the table, umbrella ,chairs were all on the ground. Thankfully my kids were not outside. If people were outside the injuries would have been bad. This was in the summer. We live in the Bay Area, Northern California and there is no reason why a stable patio set would fall over. This happened twice. The whole thing is piece of junk and they should not be allowed to sell products like this both for quality and safety reasons.

on 5/25/2016 Sears delivered my Garden Oasis 7 pc Rockford outdoor dining set. We put it out on our deck by our pool. Yesterday, 7/14/2016 I was in the garage and heard a loud pop. I walked out to the pool and the entire glass top of the table had shattered into 1000’s of pieces. glass everywhere. I am still vacumming up glass. there was nothing on the table and nobody on the deck except the table and chairs in the sun. I called sears and was transferred around to 4 different people and disconnected twice. Sears told me they will not accept a return and the manufacturer only wanted to sell me a new top for over 200 dollars delivered. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company but that may go nowhere. I am done with sears after being a customer for 50 years. And before Sears Holdings replies with their [REDACTED] cut and paste response to call customer care let me reply. I have already done that, it is a waste of time. SEARS does not care about it’s customers or their safety. this is not the sears of old. I have no choice now but to take them to small claims court to try and recoup my losses. but I certainly wish CPSC will let people know about these dangerous glass tables and make SEARS stop importing them from CHINA.

We had purchased a Garden Oasis Long Beach outdoor dining set for our patio last July from Sears. The set includes an umbrella ready table with “shatter proof” glass. Yesterday afternoon, as I was sitting inside with a 10 month old baby and my husband was out in our pool, we heard a loud noise sounding like water gushing. I looked out the back door to see the shatter proof glass in a pile on the ground. My husband’s hand got cut on the shards of glass as we cleaned it up. Sears was unwilling to help and told me there were not enough incidents to be concerned. I have pictures.

I purchased a patio dining set on 6/22/13 from Sears. Yesterday (7/13/14) the glass top on the table spontanteously shattered. No one was near the table at the time and there was only a tablecloth and a small vase on it. Nothing hit it to cause this shattering, which covered our deck with glass. So unsafe and since its happened I’ve read other reports just like this. The product is manufactured by Garden Oasis, which I understand is based in the UK. Sears informs me that my warranty was only for a year and that I’ll have to take this up with Garden Oasis. Again, after reading other reports, I don’t think I’m going to get any satisfaction.
I would hate to think what would have happened if my toddler grandson had been close by when this occured, and my dog won’t be allowed on the deck for a while. Although we swept for more than an hour, there’s still glass shards in the wood.

The Garden Oasis patio set was being used as a normal patio table and within acceptable usage scenarios when the item just exploded into a million pieces of tempered glass. There were no injuries and no one was home, but cleaning up the glass was definitely problematic and results in a few shards of glass embedding themselves into people’s feet.

Glass table top exploded outward while getting ready to eat. I recieved an eye injury and my daughter recieved cuts. The glass is 3/16” thick. The glass should be a min. 3/8” thick for the size and application of the glazing.
I have contacted sears and their Blue Ribon team did contact me and provided me with the following information. I contacted Numark, they stated they do not manufacturer this set. I contacted sears several times, and they have been unresponsive.
NuMark website stated they don’t warranty the glass.
We have researched our records, and according to our records, we show that your Vonnegut 7 Piece Patio Set is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. Since the issue with the glass breaking occurred after the time frame that Sears would resolve the issue I am providing you with the manufacturers contact information. When I spoke with you previously you said that you wanted to have this issue resolved as soon as possible so that you can begin to enjoy your patio set. That is my objective as well. The manufacturer is Numark and the number to call to reach them is 1-800-457-4652 (Mon. - Fri.) 9am - 5pm or you can reach out to them at the website E.S.Twww.numarkcustomerservice.com. I will follow up with you on 8/22/13 to see what the resolution is that they were able to come to for the issue that you have had with the glass from the patio set not being thick enough as well as the other issues that the glass caused. We bought a tempered glass patio table 2 years ago. It was housed in a sunroom for several months then we moved where we have a deck. It was on the deck last summer. We took it in for the winter and brought it back out about 6 weeks ago. Today, I came home to find that the glass had spontaneously combusted and glass was everywhere. Nothing hit it. My husband had been outside on the deck about 5 minutes before it happened and it was fine. I’m just glad my kids were not outside when it happened.

The product, in the report: Glass top, wicker trim design outdoor patio dining table
I recently purchased a Garden Oasis Wicker Allenton model outdoor table From Sears. I am horrified at the table itself. We set it up, were a bit uncomfortable with it because the table is top heavy, our fears were proven true this past weekend when a breeze came along and blew it over. The worst part was the glass top, NOT safety glass, shattered into sharp shards of glass all over our patio and yard. it literally, and i saw it happen, EXPLODED, it is a miracle there was no one close by. This table is a horrible product and should be taken off the market. i am so disappointed. it is very attractive, but VERY dangerous. i would really like my money back so i can purchase another, safer, table. or have the top replaced with plexiglass at the manufacturers expense.
After sending the above message to sears, i was told, they were terribly sorry, but i would have to contact the manufacturer. i have tried to call them, with no response. No offer of money returned or a replacement with a different table. Nothing. All i wanted was a safe table. so now i am turning it over to you.
