  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 17, 2018, sent to the company Aug 24, 2018, published by CPSC Sep 10, 2018

The product, in the report: Dining Table , when extended can seat 10 people. size is 130 X 90 X 230. Table tops are glass

A dining table that I bought collapsed under normal use. It was moved so that we can clean under the table and when we slide the table on the floor it collapsed and the two table tops flew down, hitting and damaging the adjacent wall. The table has two tops that when extended can accommodate 10 people. The two table top weigh together over 120 pound. The table is 90 cm tall. The good thing is that no one was at the side where the table collapsed. Otherwise someone would have gotten hurt very badly. This incident happened in my vacation home in [REDACTED]. I notified the store. They sent me to customer service. The customer service department asked for pictures. Once they had the pictures they washed their hand from any wrong action and said that breaking table is not covered under the one year warranty. I have pictures that I am attaching to this report.

It just happened that I am in charge of product development and the safety regulatory requirements for these product. I was surprised from their response, since safety is in question here. They did not make any attempt to do failure cause analysis or to conduct any follow up. The company is claimed to have compliance with ISO 9001....
