The product, in the report: Bromley glass patio table . Black frame and glass top
I purchased a Bromley glass patio table last year from Target. The table shattered within months. I contacted the company and they sent me another top. I accepted it thinking maybe this was a defect. Well the table shattered AGAIN with 4 children around it. Thankfully nobody got hurt. This is such an extreme safety issue. I’ m not sure how these glass top tables are allowed to be produced.

Our Bromley Rectangular Dining Table which we purchased from Target in March, 2011, has shattered into a million pieces. I was straightening the umbrella when the glass just shattered.

We bought a patio table last year from Target store..It was the Bromley large rectangle one..Yesterday morning with no reason,it shattered all over the place..No one was outside at the time, but 20 mins before we had all been sitting around it..I have 4 kids who i am so grateful were not around when it shattered..There was no wind,nothing..it just shattered..There were some larger shards but for the most part,it was just all over everything..This is an incredible safety hazard..Called target and they just passed me off to the manufacturer who of course isnt anwering their phone..STAY AWAY from this table..Luckily we werent injured(except for the sliced finger cleaning it all up) SO disappointed at this dangerous product

No one hurt Made Jul 12, 2011, published by CPSC Aug 3, 2011
The product, in the report: Bromley rectangle glass patio table. Black frame. Purchased at Target in March 2011 Sku number 009000800
We have a Bromley patio table that was purchased at Target in March 2011. We use the table almost daily. The table shattered completely. This fortunatly happened when we were not near it. We have two children and a dog. We can not image what would have happened if we were sitting at the table. The glass went everywhere. It was stuck in between the boards on the deck, in the bushes and on the chairs. After investigating online I found on Target’s website this is very common with this table. Safety is a risk with this product. Please do not wait until someone is severly hurt to have this product removed.

Hurt, care not known Made Jul 7, 2011, published by CPSC Aug 1, 2011
The product, in the report: Bromley Outdoor Rectangular Dining Table. Glass top with umbrella hole, painted metal base and metal legs. Comes in various set combinations with chairs.
I’m reporting this because I own the Outdoor Bromley Patio Table from Target Stores. Mine hasn’t broken yet, but a coworker of mine also had this table and hers has broken. I have a 17 month old daughter so this concerns me of her safety eating at this table.
My coworker had about 6-8 guests over to her house for dinner, and unprovoked, the table shattered into a million pieces causing injuries to some of her guests. She said at least 2 of them received lacerations.
After hearing of this news, I went to Target.com to read the reviews on the Bromley items. I discovered that within the past two months, from June 8, 2011-July 1, 2011, there have been 3 additional reports of this happening to other consumers on the Target website. The item can be found at: http://www.target.com/dp/B003ZEUKKI?sortReviews=-rating&ref=pd_tab_grev_sort_HighestRatingFirst

Please read the aformentioned reports here:
----“DO NOT BUY - PIECE OF JUNK June 8, 2011 Reviewer: [REDACTED] Sitting at dinner last night with six people seated and food on the plates, glass exploded into a million tiny pieces, cutting 5 of the 6 people at the table. I was wearing jeans, so I was spared.
This was supposed to be a relaxing dinner after the death of a loved one and we ended up cleaning tiny pieces of glass for about an hour.
This is a cheap piece of junk that is poorly made. I am going to Target and demanding they make this right. “
---“DANGEROUS PRODUCT! SHATTERED GLASS! July 1, 2011 Reviewer: [REDACTED]
We purchased this table about a month ago and were really enjoying it until the glass on the table shattered for no reason; thankfully no one was hurt but it was difficult and time consuming to clean up. By this time there were no other tables available in the 3 closest Target stores. When I called Target they gave me the manufacturer’s number and I said I had to deal with them. Seeing from the other reviews, I’m not the only person to whom this has happened. It could be very dangerous-Target should think about recalling this product and offering a refund/replacement as the item is still available online. “
---“Worthless June 20, 2011 Reviewer: [REDACTED] Purchased this table a few months ago and only used it a few times, the heaviest thing to sit on this table was a glass of ice tea. Then last week I see the umbrella leaning to the side and when I go outside I discover that the table shattered into a million pieces! Only thing I can think of is that the Houston heat caused it to COMBUST, but it’s patio furniture! Since we no longer have the reciept and paid cash, Target has brushed me off to the manufactor. Shame on Target for selling a worthless piece of merchandise and not standing behinde it!”
Please please please look into this CPSC!!! This table appears to have a defect and who knows how many more have experienced this with their Bromley table.
Thank you.

No one hurt Made Jun 8, 2011, published by CPSC Jun 30, 2011
The product, in the report: bromley rectangular pation table, bought at Target
Bromley rectangular dining table (patio table) bought at Target 1 year ago shattered into tiny pieces without anyone near it. I have been on the phone with Target, they will not warranty the product because it is past 90 days, the mfg. of the product will not warranty the product because a different mfg. makes it now. On the Target website, there are other reports of the same thing, with injuries being reported, in the customer review section on this product. Thankfully no one in my family was injured, yet - the glass shattered all over the patio. My concern is that no one at Target - the store, the corporate customer service dept., the mfg. seems to care, I hope someone is not sitting at this table the next time it happens.
