I ordered the “Tot Tutors Kids Book Rack with Fabric Sling Sleeves” bookshelf from Walmart. The bookshelf is marketed as appropriate for young children. It is sold disassembled and must be put together by the customer. The “shelves” are created by metal poles. The metal poles are individually wrapped in plastic for shipping. When I opened the package, I discovered that the metal poles were covered in small, sharp shards of metal. Each pole had loose metal filings on it.

I ordered the same product from Target, hoping that the first one was a fluke. The second one had the exact same problem as the first. The poles were covered with loose metal shards. Both boxes have the same manufacture date code.

The metal shards pose a distinct hazard for small children. This is especially worrying because this is sold for use by young children.
