The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Mar 11, 2024, sent to the company Mar 13, 2024, published by CPSC Mar 27, 2024

The product, in the report: Rockler I-semble heavy duty blind floating shelf bracket (here: https://www.rockler.com/i-semble-heavy-duty-blind-shelfsupport)

I purchased 10 pairs of I-Semble heavy duty blind floating shelf bracket (SKU 59434) from Rockler (seen here: https://www.rockler.com/i-semble-heavy-duty-blind-shelfsupport) These are rated for a load of 125# per pair. While installing these brackets yesterday (per manufacturer’s instructions), I noticed that one of the posts was loose and when I applied slight pressure with my hand, the post came off (if possible, will attach a photograph on a subsequent page.) It appears that the post corroded internally. It also appears that the product is assembled by screwing a threaded stud on the post to the flat steel bracket after which it is welded in back; it is not welded around the base of the post and there is a seam where water/humidity can get in and corrode the post internally, causing failure. Thankfully, this occured during installation as opposed to when the product was fully loaded. Such a failure, either initially, or after time as the product continues to corrode internally, could cause serious bodily injury or even fatality. If you note on the webpage provided, approximately 33% of the one-star reviews report such a failure, including one individual who reports that they incurred a financial loss as items that were on the shelf were destroyed.
