The product, in the report: Pali Mantova Double Dresser. Pali Code 1006. Dimensions: 50 x 22 x 36 inches. Color: white Pali Mantova Bookcase Hutch. Pali Code 5555-WH. PO# [REDACTED]. Manufacture Date 2012-12-24. Dimensions: 47 x 14 x 42 inches. Color: White
My husband was removing the diaper changing tray from the top of our Pali Mantova Double Dresser. He put a little force on the dresser in order to lift the tray and the plastic tip restraint strap securing the dresser to the wall snapped. He estimates he maybe put 10 lb of force on the dresser, far less than the weight of a toddler trying to, for example, climb on a dresser. We examined the strap and it was brittle and therefore not surprising it had snapped.
We also have a Pali brand Mantova bookcase hutch secured to the wall stud with a tip restraint strap. Concerned that perhaps that strap was brittle as well, my husband gave a slight pull on the dresser (again, 10 lb of force or less) and the strap snapped. Again, we observed the plastic strap was brittle.
The tip restraint straps were both provided by Pali.
I noted in 2015 there was a recall on the Pali furniture tip restraint straps (CPSB recall number 15-160). I contacted Pali and was assured this recall only applied to furniture manufactured from January 2006 to September 2010). Please note our furniture was manufactured in December 2012.
