The product, in the report: https://www.samsclub.com/p/5-shelf-storage-rack-boltless/prod19280016?xid=plp_product_1_2 Member’s Mark 5-Shelf Storage Rack by Member’s Mark | Item # 517695 Model # 01605 “Each shelf on this heavy-duty storage rack can support up to 800 pounds for exceptional strength. The beams and frame are made of steel. This storage rack features a durable hammertone finish that will blend in well with most environments. Having a laminate surface, its shelving is also water-resistant and simple to clean. This garage storage rack features a hidden slot-post design to conceal assembly. Its shelving can be adjusted in 3-inch increments for holding different sized objects. Since there’s no need for nuts and bolts, set up is quick. Just choose the configuration to fit the needs of your space.”
We bought these shelves to store our belongings on in our garage. My husband, who is a skilled carpenter and machinist by trade, assembled these shelves according to the instructions. After assembling, I attempted to slide the empty shelves back up against the garage wall. When I placed my hand on the rails, the entire shelving unit broke apart and toppled on onto me and my car that was parked in the garage. Luckily, it was only me in the garage and my kids were out in the driveway. The weight of the shelves falling and hitting me left bruising on my abdomen, thigh and foot. The side of my car sustained a large gash and multiple dents. I bought this product in store, without reading online reviews. However, after this incident, I went to Sam’s Club web site and read multiple reviews complaining of the shelves coming apart and falling down. I got away with just a couple bumps and bruises and now have to pay to have my car repaired, but this could have been and possibly will be, much worse in the future. My 1 1/2 year old nephew was in the driveway and if he would have been in the garage he would have been seriously injured. My fear is that due to the poor design of these tall and heavy shelves, someone is going to get seriously injured.
