The product, in the report: IVAR shelving system
The IKEA store carries a shelving system under the name “Ivar”. It is a combination of wooden side supports and shelves. The shelves (of various sizes) have metal fittings on both sides that connect to metal pegs inserted into the side units. In the most recent edition of the shelves, the metal fittings have a tendency to disconnect from the wooden part of the shelf, both during an attempt to rearrange the shelves and spontaneously. As a result, the affected shelves become loose and fall down, posing a risk of serious injury.
