As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

    The product, in the report: This Product: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/brimnes-bookcase-black-40301223/ Width: 23 5/8 “ Depth: 13 3/4 “ Height: 74 3/4 “ Max load/shelf: 40 lb

I have an Ikea Brimnes Bookcase in my twin’s bedroom and last Wednesday night (6/3/20), it fell over on top of my 2 year old babies. The bookcase was mounted to the wall, and was not overburdened (just children’s books and stuffed animals). Luckily the twins were unharmed, minus being absolutely terrified and some bruising a couple days later.

My biggest concern here is that the bookcase was properly mounted to the wall, with the original mounting material Ikea included with the product. There were two metal brackets attached at the top. One of the brackets pulled out of the wall, the other bracket stayed firmly in the wall but pulled out of the bookcase.

I have a video of the incident, as well as pictures of the bookcase and mounting material.
