The product is an Aquadom brand. Toll Free# (800) 654-0016. Model SR3630. Signature Royale 36” X 30” X 5” Lighted Mirror Glass Medicine Cabinet for Bathroom, 3D LED Color Temperature Lights Cool/Warm, Clock, Defogger, Dimmer, Electrical Outlet with USB. Purchased under Aquadom Invoice No. [REDACTED] on 08/09/2019. I have reported this incident directly to their customer service department. I purchased this product as part of a recent complete bathroom remodel which is almost complete. This project was done under [REDACTED] Illinois Permit. I am an Illinois licensed and American Society of Home Inspectors Certified Home Inspector. Therefore I have been trained and am qualified to use basic analytical electrical test equipment. Upon completion of the installation including electrical wiring of this product to a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt (GFCI) protected, wall mounted receptacle upstream to provide the required GFCI protection to the on board receptacle in the medicine cabinet, it was determined by a GFCI receptacle tester that the on board receptacle was reverse polarized (hot/neutral wires crossed). Further, this receptacle would not trip the wall mounted GFCI receptacle upstream to provide the required, intended GFCI protection to the on board receptacle. This allows increased potential for shock hazard at a bathroom vanity sink. It was also discovered that the anti-fog mirror heater in this medicine cabinet was warming continuously weather the internal power button switch for this feature was depressed or not. I then asked the electrician to cross the live and neutral connections to the GFCI receptacle upstream while marking the wires to see what would happen. After that was completed, the on board receptacle now tested as correctly wired, and the tester tripped the wall mounted GFCI receptacle upstream as it should. However, the anti-fog feature will not work at all now. The reason this occurred is because this electric supplied medicine cabinet which is manufactured in China and listed by ETL, is being improperly wired during the assembly process.
