  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jan 18, 2013, sent to the company Feb 13, 2013, published by CPSC Feb 28, 2013

The product, in the report: This is a soft heart shaped pillow with build in led lights. The battery back is connected to the inside of the pillow which can be obtained by unzipping the side of the pillow. The zipper is not protected well and is big. It could scratch someone very easily.

I bought my 9 1/2 year daughter the Bright Light Pillow from the retailer Justice on 1/11/2013. It is a heart shaped pillow with built-in led lights that when turned on, automatically turn off after 15 minutes. The battery pack is heavy and even though it is placed deep within the pillow (access the battery pack from a side zipper that itself is not well covered), if you are playing around and hit someone with this pillow, the battery pack can definitely hurt you. There is no warning about this. Also, my daughter slept with the pillow the first night and woke up with a red raised skin eruption that ran lateral to the right side of her face, close to her ear. No blistering. I took pictures of it. She had no complaints of pain but it was noticeable immediately because of the redness and the texture was raised. She did not sleep with any other stuffed animals and had slept just fine in her bed without any facial discolorations or eruptions until she slept with the Bright Lights pillow. On 1/17/2013 the reddened area has changed a brown pigmentation but is still raised when touching it.
