The product, in the report: Le Creuset Classic Whistling Kettle Large Tea Kettle, 1 7/10 Quart capacity, 9 3/4” tall with handle, 8 1/4” diameter, yellow Model SKU# Q3101-XXX
Le Creuset Tea kettle constantly splashes boiling water wildly from the spout after heating water to boil. It doesn’t seem to matter how high or low the burner is (I have tested on both gas and glass stovetops) or if I hang the spout far off the burner or not. I, a healthy and physically coordinated person have this occur whenever I hear water for my coffee, tea, ramen, etc. I have not been injured but I can see massive potential for injury, especially if someone with muscle weakness, dull reaction time, tremor, or any similar impairment attempts to use this kettle.

The product, in the report: Le Creuset Classic Stainless Steel Tea Kettle 1.6 quart
We purchased a Le Creuset classic stainless steel tea kettle in November of 2016. Every time we used it for several months, we had the same problem: every time the water in our kettle boiled this happened: when we started pouring into a cup, the hot water would spurt out of the spout, as if the spout itself were superheated. It splashed out, partly into the cup, partly onto the countertop. We quickly learned not to hold the cup with our hand. I looked on line and found many descriptions of the same problem. It seems to me someone could easily be burned by the hot water. I contacted Le Creuset but they were not very helpful. I returned the kettle to the retailer and bought a different brand.

The product, in the report: Stainless steel whistling tea kettle, 1.7qt.
The evening of May 3rd my 16 year old daughter suffered 2nd degree burns on her left hand, covering approximately 1/3 the dorsal surface area in a glove distribution. She put the Le Creuset Whistling 1.7qt stainless kettle on to boil water, filled to the bottom of the spout, so it was not overfilled. Once boiling, she set it aside for over 1 minute off the hot burner to finish some laundry. When she poured the water, it shot out in a geyser of boiling water, scalding her hand and shooting boiling water over the counter tops. I too have experienced this with this kettle from first use. It’s unpredictable. We have had it about a month. I contacted the seller, SurLaTable, twice via email, including a photo of the burn, which is now brown, leathery, and peeling after blistering. They did not respond. A phone call to return the item resulted in better service. LeCreuset did respond and offered a replacement, but I’m not interested in a replacement at this point.
It appears others have experienced this same issue. It had the potential to result in far worse burns than my daughter suffered. It has been a miserable experience for her as a result of poor design. My old kettle did not have this issue.

The product, in the report: Ceramic Teapot
Side of Teapot handle was burning hot to the touch. Dropped it like a hot flame, water spurted out on my arm & chest. Passed out and my arm went down on the flame. Sustained 3rd & 4th degree burns. Amputation of fingers, bones etc. used my lat muscle to make an arm. Over 20 surgeries, over 12 weeks in hospital , still have ongoing procedures. That’s the crux of it in a very shortened form

No one hurt Made Dec 8, 2012, sent to the company Dec 28, 2012, published by CPSC Jan 22, 2013
The product, in the report: Le Creuset 1.8 Quart whistling kettle product number: SKU SS3102P
I bought a 1.8 quart stainless steel whistling tea kettle manufactured by Le Creuset in September. On first using it I was alarmed to find a serious and dangerous design flaw. After the water has boiled, and when you try to pour water into a cup or bowl, the water fizzes and bubbles out of the spout in an arc of boiling water that goes all over kitchen surfaces. It is highly dangerous because any hand close to the kettle risks severe scalding. In my view this product should be recalled immediately. I thought I might have been sold a single defective kettle, but looking at recent reviews on Amazon shows that other people are suffering the same problem, and danger. I refer you to the Amazon reviews dated october 16 by [REDACTED] and september 13 by [REDACTED]. I emailed le Crueset’s customer service department pointing out the risks of this product and calling on them to withdraw it. I received in return a message that did not address this issue but offered me a credit note if I returned the product and they found my complaint valid. I have not taken this up because it misses the point. A child could be scarred for life by this product. It is should be withdrawn from sale immediately.

The product, in the report: Le Creuset Classic Whistling Kettle
I purchased a Le Creuset Classic Whistling tea kettle on 11/06/11. When heating water on the stove, at times, just prior to the water coming to a full boil, there is a kind of explosion heard inside the kettle. If the whistle is not covering the spout, nearly boiling water has shot out almost 3 feet from the spout. If the spout was not pointed away from me, I would have been burned on the face & neck. This has happened more than once. This happens with the water below the level of the spout, and has happened when the burner on the stove was on “medium”.
