The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Copco teakettle

I purchased a Copco teakettle in the spring of 2022. I was boiling water and when I went to check the pot, the plastic around the whistle lid had melted.

The product, in the report: A COPCO tea kettle, FUSION model. It is stainless steel with a 3 1/2 inch diameter lid. It has a “rattly mechanism” in the pour spout that creates a whistle when steam pressure builds up.

On Thursday September 6, 2012 I was using a COPCO Fusion tea kettle to boil water to make a cup of coffee using a single cup [REDACTED] filter cone. When the kettle boiled (it whistles slightly) I picked it up and tipped the kettle when the whistle mechanism “jammed” causing steam pressure to build up which popped the lid off. My 4th finger on the right hand (which wraps around the handle to hold it) was severely burned by the steam that rose out of the kettle.
