The product, in the report: 4 cup stainless steel stove top Espresso maker. http://www.amazon.com/Altho-Stainless-Steel-Stovetop-Espresso/dp/B005CYIF74/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1387310027&sr=8-9&keywords=altho

I was using the Altho stove top espresso maker (4 cup). After about 10 minutes I smelled something burning. I realized that the coffee was not percolating but that super-heated steam was being produced below in the lower chamber of the coffee making device. The steam was so hot it began to burn the coffee, and the “heat resistant” rubber gasket. Even so, the seal on the pot was so tight that the steam had no place to go and the pot could have exploded with the force of an incendiary grenade.

I turned off the stove burner and pushed the device into the sink and turned on cold water. Steam and smoke filled my apartment.
