The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Apr 23, 2023, sent to the company May 1, 2023, published by CPSC May 15, 2023

The product, in the report: Westek Pro 24 in. L White Hardwired LED Under Cabinet Light Strip 1290 Mfr #PPCCT-L24W

I bought an under counter light fixture. This light can be used hardwired or plug in. The hardwire connections are behind a small panel on the back. The wires should be capped with a wire nut for safety so that if you use the plug in option they don’t short. Mine wasn’t capped. When I removed the panel the neutral had no wire nut, just a bare wire floating around. The wire nut was not correctly attached and was floating inside the unit.

One I fixed that it works just fine, however somebody using the plug in option would never have known about the uncapped wire which could just as easily have been the live wire.
