The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

  1. No one hurt

Made Mar 9, 2018, sent to the company Jun 15, 2018, published by CPSC Jun 29, 2018

The product, in the report: Lithonia Emergency Lighting - recall involved the Quantum series ELM and ELM2 emergency light fixtures. They are about 12 inches wide, 5 inches high and 3.75 inches deep in white or black plastic and have two incandescent lights and a rechargeable lead acid battery.

Lithonia Emergency Lighting was recalled in 2014 as a potential fire hazard. The Burlington, VT Fire Marshal’s Office did a safety inspection at a local business finding several emergency lights that did not work, and the Facilities Manager showed them samples of the recalled lighting that showed no signs of overheating several years ago but now show definite signs of overheating. The Facilities Manager said the firm had told him they would replace any panels that had turned brown from overheating near a potentially faulty resister, and the Facilities Manager worked with the firm to replace approximately 20 units out of a total of 42 in 2015. When the Facilities Manager began to replace the units with newer LED’s, he found that many of the panels left unrepaired/ uncorrected in 2015 were now showing evidence of overheating. The Fire Marshal brought the concern to the CPSC’s area representative who then contacted Headquarters. Compliance requested samples and an in-depth investigation report.

The product, in the report: Quantum ELM & ELM2 two light emergency fixture for emergency lighting

Just wanted to make note that in the description of the recall on this product your website says that the recall does not include circuit boards with tan coloring on one side-that it only covers the green on both sides circuit boards. If this is the case then there should be a complete recall of all boards with the tan side as well. We just replaced 37 of these boards and every single one of them showed either beginning signs of melting and burning or outright burning that caught a battery on fire as well in the housing. I still have every single one of them to prove it if the company denies the claim.
