The product, in the report: 13 inch flat style, LED linkable light strip. Connection on both ends for power supply or linking to another unit.
Noticed the smell of an electrical burn and discovered product smoking and crackling. Immediately unplugged the unit and found the small fixture hot to touch, beginning to melt, charred and burned. If not discovered, would have caused a fire.

The product, in the report: Lights of America, 18 inch flourescent Under Cabinet Light Fixture, Model UCL 7000-1
Sir Lights of America, 18 inch flourescent undet cabinet light fixture, Model UCL 7000-1.
I purchased two of these lamps a few years ago and mounted them under a shelf, over a number of African Violets. Every night, using a mechanical timer, the light (2 lights really) came on after dark and provided light to stimulate growing. Last night I heard the timer click but observed that the lights did not come on. When I looked closely at the lights, one of them was badly melted. Specifically, the starter had burned completely through the plastic case and was hanging by the wires underneath. When I took the unit off from under the shelf, I saw that the upper portion of the unit was also melted and had sagged significantly. FYI, a proper extension cord was used but it fit perfectly. Obviously, we narrowly avoided a fire, perhaps while we were asleep or gone. This is an extremely dangerouls situation and I thought you should be informed. I have pictures that I can e-mail if you would kindly give me an address. Thank you for your attention.
