How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 2 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Nov 21, 2017, sent to the company Nov 30, 2017, published by CPSC Dec 14, 2017

The product, in the report: WBM Himalayan Glow Natural Salt Lamp, large pink/orange, attached to wooden base, the cord switch is stamped Zing Ear ZE-04.

I have a salt lamp that appears to NOT be included in the current recall and from a different manufacturer but we just experienced the same safety problem. My family smelled something ‘hot’ or burning and began to investigate around all our electronics and discovered it was coming from the salt lamp cord. The on/off dimmer switch on the cord was overheating and was melting along the seem and it was so hot that one could barely touch it! The label sticker shows manufacturer WBM International, the base is also stamped with that company logo and shows model 1000 series, the switch is stamped Zing Ear ZE-04. I’ve searched and according to WBM their lamps are just fine and safe (see below blog from their website) and states they’ve no reports of this issue and that it’s just ‘other’ manufactures. I’ve also emailed them our concern. http://wbmint.blogspot.com/2017/06/Wbm-International-do-not-recall-salt-lamps.html

The product, in the report: Himalayan salt lamp model. Salt sits around a bulb in a wire cage.

Dimmer switch melted on Himalayan salt lamp model 1342 from WBM International. This was not part of the [REDACTED] recall but appears to have the same issue. I will note we purchased the item as-is because it had been returned but there were no signs of any issues or damage prior to our using it. The lamp turned on but after a few minutes there was a bad smell and the dimmer switch was melting.
