Consumer Note: As the buyer of the product, I should have contact information on the Amazon link so I can communicate directly with Dan & Darci company. I find no direct way on the Amazon Dan & Darci store page to contact the seller directly and I have purchased the product as gifts twice. Both items were sent hundreds of miles away so I don’t have access to the package. I filed a report on the listing with Amazon about incorrect product information and stated they did not include information about a fire hazard or parental warning for guidance using the children’s product on 08/29/2023.
I am filing this report since I am the purchaser of the faulty Dan & Darci 3D String Art Kit For Kids Light-Up Star Lantern With 20 Multi-colored LED Bulbs. The LED string art craft was assembled at [REDACTED] by my adult daughter and her 10 year-old daughter. They assembled June 2023 lighted string art 3D star today, connected to two new [REDACTED] AA batteries and the wires joining the battery compartment flamed, smoldered, then melted burning my daughters fingers. There is not a manufacturing date on the package that we can see but I purchased it on June 8, 2023 at Amazon’s [REDACTED]. The string art is a toy recommended for children age 8 and was assembled today by a 10 year old with adult supervision and connected to batteries by the adult. As she connected the lights (per the included safety directions) the wire caught fire, melted, and burned my daughter’s fingers. I have photos to prove this allegation. There are no pictures of my daughter’s burn as she dropped the craft before serious injury occurred. My daughter said she was thankful it wasn’t hanging decoratively in her daughter’s room unattended. She said it could have easily caused a serious house fire if near other flammable objects such as toys, clothes, and bed linens. This item should include a fire hazard warning and suggested parental supervision IF it is allowed to be sold after being officially certified as safe. I contacted the company via email at [REDACTED] as this is the contact provided on the box. I first wanted to document the incident with Amazon to notify the seller and post a review for others to be made aware of the dangers. I then contacted the company and the US Consumer Protection Agency.
